Hunger of the pack

They might as well have removed the system entirely. But this change that Mojang made in 1.11 is utterly ridiculous. It's why I install Spice of Life, Cooking for Blockheads and various food expansions. I like the idea of having to grow food and manage my hunger and health. I haven't even planted crops yet, and I likely never will have to. It feels like I might play through the entire modpack (which only has a few mods on purpose) without ever running out of food, just by killing the ~10 pigs within immediate viewing distance of my base. Meaning, after playing for three hours, and doing all the mining and building described above, the entirety of the non-combat hunger my character had developed was sated with a single porkchop. And two out of those were exclusively for regenerating health. Guess how many pieces of food I've eaten? Three. I'm playing on Hard difficulty, with Ender Zoo additionally increasing mob difficulty above vanilla.

I have full iron armor and tools, a diamond pick, an enchantment table, a multi-floor house, various branch mines started on several levels along a staircase to bedrock, and have begun dipping into several mods. So I'm playing for the first time on a version higher than 1.10.2.
